I was fortunate to break into investment banking and private equity right out of undergrad. While I was successful on paper, I realized I was going down a path I wasn't even sure I wanted to go down.
The hard part came when I was paralyzed by not having a clue about what I actually wanted. I would blindly apply to roles that sounded interesting, thinking my resume would get my foot in the door.
I learned the hard way that resumes and applications are dead and no employer can give me an opportunity if I don't know what I want in the first place. I got lucky with blind applications, but still didn't have excitement in what I was pursuing.
I spent months using the outdated playbooks you might be using only to realize I was playing a losing game. I tried finding the answer, resources, and community to learn how to navigate the modern job market and thrive but could not find anything useful.
Through trial and error, some embarrassment, and a lot of headache, I was able to better understand how recruiting actually works and what makes candidates instantly desired vs others.
Today, by using the system that's shared in futr.prf, I was able to get someone to create a role for me and get introduced to many opportunities without even having to apply.
This same process can be applied to any role. It does not matter what you want to do or what industry you want to work in.
I'm building what I wish I had when I was trying to navigate my early career.
